You know in the beginning this was just an idea in one man’s head (not mine) and now it seems to have blown up into something completely different. We’re now setting out to revolutionize the entire scene, if possible. First and foremost I’d like to say that we can make a difference and make the scene something to be proud of. Not something to disparage on the way to the show. I remember days when going to the lot was a joyous and educational experience, I haven’t been able to feel this way in sometime. This isn’t to say that there aren’t those out there trying to make a difference, but we’ll get to that later. Second, I’d like to mention the streamers out there without whom none of this could have continued. And for this we thank you. Having brushed over these couple of topics my feeling is that we can develop a new community to be proud of, something outsiders would be proud of. That is, of course, our goal. In order for this to happen however we need a concerted effort from everyone who cares. We need to connect not only old friends and new friends but just the random local that asks you what it is that’s going on in their small town.
Our reasons for doing this are simple: Develop a stronger sense of community, rid ourselves of the scalpers (and that includes fans who are trying to make money off of fans), make Phish more accessible to those who can’t make it to as many shows as they would like and finally help others understand why it is that we do what we do. One of the ways to start this process is to get rid of the money hungry ticket dealers, i.e scalpers. In order for this to happen we need to work as a collective and the first place I would start is a great website that got started after the Hampton mess last year, cashforyourextra.com, these guys are truly in it for you and no one else. Second way would be to go to any blog or social networking site and communicate with not just your friends but people you’ve never met and spread the knowledge of how to keep the community as one living breathing entity that feeds off itself, instead of poisoning itself. One of things that has helped me most is Green Crew, a relatively small group of like minded people whose only real goal is to keep the scene clean. Great people all, truly the most dedicated group of fans I’ve seen to date.
On that long winded note I’ll end with that. Before I go I just want to shoutout a couple of people and websites that deserve mentioning. I actually do have a couple of questions for you if you do not mind. Is it only me or do some of these responses look like they are left by brain dead people?
